Tom Brady may be new to broadcasting, but he could very well become a Hall of Famer in that arena.
However, the initial reception of the legendary former New England Patriots quarterback in the announcer’s booth has been less than favorable.
“There was a lot of awkward silence from Tom Brady during the first quarter,” one viewer tweeted.
Another fan commented, “This is the guy who has won seven Super Bowls. Tom Brady needs to provide more pre-snap analysis. I want to hear him calling the game like he’s the quarterback.”
“Why is Tom Brady glitching?” a third user remarked.
“Where’s the insight, Tom Brady? It was notably absent,” a fourth fan observed.
Brady debuted in the announcer’s booth during the Week 1 matchup between the Dallas Cowboys and the Cleveland Browns.
Hours before Brady began his broadcasting career, Jerry Jones awarded Dak Prescott a staggering $240 million contract, averaging $60 million annually.
“I would, too,” Brady said in support of the Cowboys making Prescott the highest-paid quarterback by average annual value.
Brady later humorously remarked, “Don’t leave me hanging,” after an awkward fist bump attempt with FOX’s rules analyst Mike Pereira during the live broadcast.
This seven-time Super Bowl champion and future Pro Football Hall of Famer is set to earn $375 million from FOX for his commentary, despite lacking prior experience in the booth.
Brady is also on the verge of becoming a part-owner of the Las Vegas Raiders, a franchise valued by Forbes at $6.7 billion, renowned for its legendary status in the league.
According to ESPN, should Brady’s stake in the Raiders be approved, he will face strict limitations regarding interactions with the other 31 NFL teams.
One thing is certain: the seven-time Super Bowl champion faces immense expectations from both himself and fans as he embarks on this new public role.
“For me, it’s all about asking myself, ‘Did I give my all? Did I provide the fans with everything they tuned in for?’ » Brady shared with Colin Cowherd.
“That’s how I’ll measure my success. Each Sunday night, I’ll reflect on whether I did a good enough job, if I lived up to the confidence FOX had in me, and if I met the expectations of my teammates. … That’s ultimately how I’ll evaluate myself in this new position.”
