Martin Ødegaard is a concern for the upcoming North London derby after he was taken off the pitch due to a worrying injury.

While contesting for the ball, Ødegaard twisted his ankle, resulting in a painful injury that led to a significant stoppage in play.

During this interruption, his fellow teammate Erling Haaland, among others, expressed concern and came to check on him.

Ultimately, the playmaker had to exit the match, supported by two members of Norway’s medical staff as he limped off the pitch.

Clearly in pain, Ødegaard appeared upset as he made his way off the field.

Norway’s coach, Ola Solbakken, remarked after the match: “Martin Ødegaard’s injury looked serious in the dressing room as well.”

Norway’s doctor, Ola Sand, added: “He sustained a minor ankle sprain. We will assess the situation, possibly using ultrasound to examine it further. If necessary, an MRI will take place tomorrow.”

Despite Ødegaard’s absence, Norway managed to secure a 2-1 victory, with Haaland scoring the decisive goal.

This injury is a significant concern for Arsenal fans as they gear up for the crucial north London derby against Tottenham on Sunday.

The 25-year-old has been a key player for Arsenal, starting all three Premier League matches this season, although he was substituted in the 74th minute of their most recent game, a 1-1 draw against Brighton.

Since joining the club from Real Madrid in 2021, Ødegaard has become one of Arsenal’s most important players.

With 156 appearances under his belt, he has scored 35 goals and provided 25 assists, including an impressive tally of 11 goals and 11 assists last season.

Martin Keown discusses how Arsenal will adapt in the North London Derby without Declan Rice

As Arsenal heads to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, they will aim to maintain their unbeaten start to the 2024/25 season.

Having secured a 3-2 victory in their last visit there, Arteta’s squad will be eager for another favorable outcome this time.

However, with Declan Rice suspended and Ødegaard now facing an injury concern, Arsenal may face a challenging encounter against Ange Postecoglou’s side.
