Mohamed Salah has been labeled ‘one of the most disrespected footballers in history’ following his omission from the Ballon d’Or nominees list.
The Liverpool forward did not feature in the 30 nominees for the men’s award this year.
Additionally, none of his Liverpool teammates, including Virgil Van Dijk, Luis Diaz, or Alisson Becker, made the cut.
Salah, who is celebrated as a contemporary legend at Liverpool, has scored 214 goals and provided 92 assists in just 352 appearances.
Last season, he recorded a formidable 25 goals and 14 assists across all competitions while helping Jurgen Klopp‘s team secure a third-place finish in the Premier League and reach the Champions League quarter-finals.

Many believe Salah’s impressive career accolades warrant serious consideration for top honors in world football.
Regrettably for Salah, he has often been overlooked.
The closest he came to winning the coveted award was securing 11th place in the 2023 Ballon d’Or.
During the 2022/23 season, he scored 30 goals and recorded 16 assists as Liverpool finished fifth in the league.
This exclusion from this year’s nominees has sparked criticism from fans.
One fan expressed, « Let’s be honest, Salah is one of the most disrespected footballers in history. »
Another commented, « He is always disrespected. VVD should have been included as well. »
A third supporter remarked, « This is why the Ballon d’Or has lost its credibility. It has become a popularity contest. »
While Salah and his teammates are left out, a total of eight players from Manchester City and Arsenal have received nominations.
Included in this group are stars such as Erling Haaland, Rodri, Ruben Dias, Martin Odegaard, and William Saliba.
Six English players have also been nominated, including Harry Kane, Jude Bellingham, Phil Foden, Declan Rice, Bukayo Saka, and Cole Palmer.
Bellingham stands out as a frontrunner after an outstanding debut season with Real Madrid, where he scored 23 goals and made 13 assists.
The main favorite for the award is his teammate Vinicius Jr, who had an impressive tally of 24 goals and 13 assists, helping Real Madrid secure both La Liga and the Champions League.
There’s also recognition for Barcelona’s 17-year-old talent, Lamine Yamal, who has quickly emerged as a key player in world football.
