India’s Preethi Pal secured a bronze medal in the women’s 200m T35 category at the Paris Paralympics, marking her second medal at the Games. She achieved a personal best time of 30.01 seconds on Sunday. This bronze medal, earned by the 23-year-old Preethi, also represents India’s second para-athletics medal in the Paris Games. Athletes in the T35 classification have coordination impairments such as hypertonia, ataxia, and athetosis. Preethi had previously claimed India’s first athletics medal in a Paralympics track event on Friday, winning a bronze in the women’s T35 100m competition with a personal best time of 14.21 seconds.
Up until now, all of India’s athletics medals at the Paralympics since the 1984 edition have been from field events.
